British Leader Skipping Opening Ceremony

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown will skip the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics.

He became the second major world leader after German Chancellor Angela Merkel to decide to stay away from the opening ceremonies, although Brown's office insisted Wednesday that he was not boycotting the Olympics and would attend the closing ceremony.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy said last month that he was debating not attending the opening ceremony.

Asked whether President Bush would go to the opening portion of the Olympics, White House press secretary Dana Perino demurred, citing the fluid nature of a foreign trip.

"It is extremely premature for me to say what the president's schedule is going to be" in August, she said.

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and others have urged Bush to consider staying away from the opening ceremony as a way to underscore U.S. concerns about the recent unrest in Tibet and questions about China's relationship with Sudan.

This is not a human right issue, rather a separation issue. What the pro-Tibet organizations have done recently is nothing different from activities from terrorists and are disgusting. Tibet will be always a part of China.

To Nick Johnson -
"nothing different from activities from terrorists"? Are you listening to yourself? Or you're just hired by the Chinese government to brain wash people whom don't know much about Tibet and Communist China?

I suppose you count yourself as someone who has full grasp of the facts on Tibet, China and the underlying cultural and historical issues? This really shines through your succinct description of the Chinese government as a "brain-washing" organization - both objective and profound, I applaud you. Meanwhile, I humbly suggest you improve your own understanding, or at least give some indication as to having attempted this, before attacking another's.

Aboriginal Indians running amok in NY city, bushing innocent pedestrians and smashing shops and burning cars. What do you expect US police do? Smile at them and say its ok because the land belongs to them first. Free Indians! All democratic countries and free people are applauding "Indians, Indians, Declare Independence!"

Please take look down at the ground you are standing on and think about number natives your ancestors has killed and enslave to rob the land of them.

If you have a problem with China's colony of Tibet, please get your ass from America, Africa, Austrilia and NZ back to Europe. Shitty and hypocritical western idiot
